Nothing
can more accurately represent the Prince Albert area better than the provincial
flag. With green to the north and gold to the south, Prince Albert is at the
heart of both agriculture and forestry in Saskatchewan.
The third element
of our industry and resource picture is mining and mineral exploration. Where
central and southern Saskatchewan has potash, northern Saskatchewan is home
to the province’s uranium and diamond exploration.
The next few
years hold big things for Prince Albert. A vast kimberlite deposit lies just
a short drive to the northeast in the Fort a La Corne forest area. This rare,
greenish-grey mineral is the remains of ancient volcanic flows and is the parent
material for gem grade diamonds. The future looks sparkling for Prince Albert!
Prince Albert employs a
large number of people in the field of provincial and federal corrections. There
are six correctional facilities in Prince Albert including a youth centre, the
provincial correctional centre, a women’s unit; and federal medium, maximum
and minimum security units. |
